Diabetes UK Gala

Hi Everyone,

For those of you who know me you will know that Diabetes UK is a charity very dear to my heart and I am very proud to act as an ambassador for them. Jamie Wilson Productions and I wanted to do something in order to raise money and awareness for Diabetes so on the 1st of December 2016 we held a Gala Event at Wimbledon New Theatre in aid of the charity.

It was such an overwhelming evening, I was absolutely blown away by the generosity and support of all of those that attended. I am so grateful to be a part of such a wonderful production and perform each evening alongside a truly fantastic cast of talented individuals, but nothing will beat that particular show for me. Looking up and recognising lots of people who had taken the time to attend the show and support a worthy cause just meant the absolute world to me. The atmosphere from start to finish was just unbeatable. Christmas was approaching an everybody took it as an opportunity to get dressed up and boy did they all look fabulous!! Craig Revel Horwood delivered a very touching speech on stage and it was truly amazing to see everyone grouping together for a cause I am so deeply affected by.

Some of you may know that 2016 was a hard year for my family and I, with my mummy being taken very seriously ill battling diabetes and continuing to do so. I am forever in awe of her strength and courage to continue to fight for her health day in and day out. Although Diabetes is not the only cause of her condition it is one of the main factors of her poor health which it is why I feel it is so important to raise awareness to try and prevent others being affected by Diabetes. There are so many ways you can prevent and control this condition but due to lack of awareness people leave it too late to do so.

I would like to say thank you to Chris Askew, Diabetes UK’s Chief Executive, Jamie Wilson himself along with his team and everyone else involved in the organisation of the evening for making it possible and such a huge success. We raised a total of £23,013.25 from donations and Box Office profits which I think is absolutely incredible! It really does show that anything is possible when everybody groups together.

I will continue to do all I can to make people aware of this horrible condition through supporting the charity to my utmost ability.

Once again from the bottom of my heart a huge thank you to everyone who donated, attended and contributed to the hugely successful Gala evening. I will never forget that night.

Peace & Love
Alex xxxx
