SlimFast, the UK’s no. 1 Meal Replacement brand today unveils Alexandra Burke as its latest celebrity weight loss ambassador.
Alexandra has lost eighteen pounds and dropped three dress sizes using the SlimFast plan, which she has been following since November 2015. She is the second female celebrity to become a weight loss ambassador for the brand in less than nine months, following Kimberley Walsh who successfully lost the last of her baby weight thanks to SlimFast and in January got married to her sweetheart Justin Scott.
Alexandra Burke will unveil her new svelte and curvaceous size 8 figure in a brand new TV campaign for SlimFast which breaks on 1st May. It is the first time SlimFast has advertised on TV in many years.
Commenting on her weight loss success and sharing insights into why the SlimFast plan works for her, Alexandra says: “The weight crept on over time and I was increasingly aware of how I felt in my clothes and when performing on-stage. It took a few moments to really tell myself it was time to do something about it. Flicking through my Ibiza holiday photos last year was a real ‘What!? You’ve got to do something about this’ moment but the final straw was when the show seamstress made out that it was my microphone that made the dress feel tight and slit the zip on my dress. Girl… then I knew!
SlimFast has always been on my radar as my mum always used SlimFast to help her lose weight in the 90s but it’s much tastier and there’s a lot more choice in the range now than I remember. It was my go-to and trust it works plan – it’s safe, tastes great and is really easy to follow which is key for me.
My goal was never to be a particular size. I like my legs, I like my bum and I of course want to keep these. I just wanted to feel and look the best I could. SlimFast really helped me to find my spark and shape again.
I feel like me. I’m loving my new shape and of course the clothes. I can use SlimFast to keep my weight in check and I feel a positive change in my general outlook but listen… if fancy a treat, I’m having it and Sunday is my treat day!”
Alexandra, whose family have a history of diabetes, passionately believes in a healthy approach to weight loss: “I wanted to be sure that I was losing weight in a healthy way. There’s no point looking great if your health or nutrition is compromised. Cutting out food groups doesn’t work for me but I am mindful of my sugar intake – so it’s great SlimFast has reduced the sugar in its products. The shakes taste better than ever and now have no added sugar. With a history of diabetes in my family it’s really important to me to make sure I stay healthy and I eat a balanced nutritious diet. The SlimFast Shakes and Meal Replacement Bars ensure my body has all the vitamins and minerals it needs to keep me healthy.”
For Alexandra, a typical day on the SlimFast plan would include a SlimFast Strawberry Shake for breakfast, followed by a SlimFast Chocolate Crunch Meal Replacement Bar for lunch ‘on-the-go’. Her daytime snacks would include a piece of fruit and a packet of SlimFast Pretzels.
Early dinner (preshow) is a wholesome 600 calorie meal such as grilled meat, savoury rice and vegetables. After her evening performance Alexandra enjoys a SlimFast Spaghetti Bolognese Noodle Pot. Under 100 calories, SlimFast Noodle Pots are a fast, tasty and fulfilling noodles made from Konjac – an Asian root vegetable which contains virtually no calories and zero fat or sugar.
She adds: “Losing 18lbs has made a big difference to my outlook, much more than I anticipated. I’m in the best shape I have been for a long time and I’m loving it! I’m so proud to be the new SlimFast brand ambassador and am motivated to inspire others to get on their own weight loss journey and feel great!”
Alexandra Burke is currently receiving rave reviews playing the lead role of Rachel Marron in the musical of The Bodyguard on a sell-out UK and Ireland tour, a role she also played to critical acclaim at the Adelphi Theatre in the West End. From July this year, Alexandra will star as Deloris Van Cartier in an all new production of the musical comedy Sister Act, directed by Craig Revel Horwood and opening at Leicester Curve.
